1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before?
I went to Oregon with my sister.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Why bother? ๐Ÿ˜†

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not anyone close, but I know my cousin Mari-Lynn had a baby and a friend of mine, Ashley, had a baby, too.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank God.

5. What countries did you visit?
Stayed in the US again this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2016 that you lacked in 2015?
A second car! Boy have my priorities changed on this question. ๐Ÿ˜†

7. What dates from 2015 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
So many things have happened. I feel at times this year was a blur. If you need a specific date, May 1, 2015. I saw the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals defeat the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium in KCMO. I got a pair of Zubaz pants on that day.ย  I won’t wear those pants in public, but they are some great lounge pants!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Wish I could say getting my Master’s Degree, but not that. Probably my biggest achievement is driving in the Kansas City metro area alone. My friend, Liz, lent me her car. I did some solo driving. Thankfully, I didn’t get lost because I had her Garmin in the car. However, I felt like this was a big step for me.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting back to working on my Master’s Degree. I just can’t afford it at the moment.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was diagnosed with a chronic condition. I am not happy about it, but I’m doing what I can to control it.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Probably a new computer.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Didn’t really have an celebrations.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Most likely mind because I let me mind wander.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Trying to get my family out of debt. I got a few student loans paid off this year and hope to pay off my car loan with my income tax refund.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My trip to Kansas City. Seems so silly, but I got to spend time with family and a dear friend.

16. What song will always remind you of 2015?
“Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars. It played EVERYWHERE in 2015 and I don’t think I have a bad memory associated with it.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? At bit happier.
older and wiser? Yes
thinner or fatter? Thinner.
richer or poorer? Richer in some ways, poorer in others.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Travel ๐Ÿ˜Ž

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Work. ๐Ÿ™„

20. How did you spend Christmas? I spent my morning working with the Mysterious Santa Program with my friend, Leslie. I’ve done a few other times before in 2002, 2014, and 2012. Afterwards, I spent the day at home enjoying time away from work.

21. Question #21 is in a black hole.

22. Did you fall in love in 2015?
No. I would love to have, but it didn’t happen.

0. I’m not that type of person.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Amazing Race, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars. Jane the Virgin.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

26. What was the best book you read?
Exploding the Phone: The Untold Story of the Teenagers and Outlaws who Hacked Ma Bell by Phil Lapsley.ย  I know I’m a weird girl.ย  Reading about the history about how the phone and computing intertwine and how the old systems work intrigue me.ย  Back in my college days, some of my classes were all about mainframes and phone systems.ย  I’m talking 2005 and 2006.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Wasn’t really into the latest music this year. Nor really finding new music. If you have to say something that’s hot for 2015, probably Charlie Puth:

Charlie Puth

And yes, I took that photo myself.

28. What did you want and get? Sounds odd, but that trip to Portland. I have been wanting to go a while. I didn’t get to do everything I wanted to do while there, but at least I got to go. It has been on my list for travel this year, but I figured I couldn’t afford it.ย  It was a pipe dream.

29. What did you want and not get? Another cruise. A boyfriend. ๐Ÿ˜† No, really, I wanted another cruise.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I loved Ant Man. I also enjoyed Magic Mike XXL and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Not telling my age ๐Ÿ˜› I had lunch with a friend, renewed my car tag, took the day off, went for a country drive.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Having a shoulder to cry on and comfort me.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2015?
It’s never going to change.

34. What kept you sane?
Photography, music and travel.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I have out grown this. However, I had a few friend jealous of the Charlie Puth encounter. I’ll admit, he’s a cutie.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The knee-jerk reaction to banning the Confederate Battle Flag. I’m so sick of people wanting to ban and remove things because they are offensive. Life itself is offensive. The only safe space in life a person can have does not exist. There are no such things.

My father asked me what a safe space was. I had him watch the South Park episode “Safe Space.” After he watched it, he realized he will never have a safe space to be himself because he’s a blunt person.ย  That’s what’s wrong with our world today.ย  My father should have every right to be himself just as everyone else.

We’re not going to agree on everything. People have all different facets to their personalities.ย  It is wrong to deny one person of who they are.

As for the flag mess, history is ugly.ย  If we clean our history of our bad side, we’ve lost perspective into why we are no longer that way to begin with.

Still, I contend my right to be able to have a desktop flag in a historical sense is not going to kill anyone.

37. Who did you miss?
My mother, as always.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I wouldn’t say new, but I FINALLY got the meet my friend Chewie, as she’s known in these parts called my blog. We started following each other around 2002-2003. Yeah, we’re old school like that. I met her while I was in Virginia earlier this year.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2015:
Only I can make myself happy. And cake. Don’t forget cake.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“This is a new beginning / I’m back in the land of the living” – “Twist of Fate” by Olivia Newton-John. It’s how I’m feeling at the moment.
