2014 In Review

1. What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
I went to the Bahamas via a cruise.

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Please, I don’t do them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not that I can recall.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My beloved cat, Scooter, did. I feel like I failed him.

5. What countries did you visit?
Just the US, as usual, and the Bahamas. The Bahamas is new.

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
Maybe a boyfriend.

7. What dates from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I’ve done so much this year, I don’t think a single date has stuck out for me.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
All my travels.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Did I really have a failure? I don’t think so.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really. Just an bronchial bug this month. Not sure where I got it, but I was kind and shared it with my poor dad. It’s wiped us out most of the month.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Amazon Kindle Fire.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
For me, there was no one behavior to merit celebration.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My siblings all did something at one point or another.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Living expenses of my sister! Don’t get me going on that one.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My cruise!

16. What song will always remind you of 2014?
“Getaway” by Richard Marx

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? About the same.
older and wiser? Yes
thinner or fatter? About the same.
richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Spend time with Scooter.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worrying about stuff I have no control over.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
At home in Savannah with my family. We watched movies.

22. Did you fall in love in 2014?
No. Thank God!

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Amazing Race, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars. My favorite new show is Jane the Virgin. #RogelioMyBrogelio

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

26. What was the best book you read?
I I finally read Into Thin Air.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Finally hearing “Broken Over You” by Broken Over You. A Repeat Offender  that I’ve know forever played it in her car while we were in Nashville this year.

28. What did you want and get?
The cruise

29. What did you want and not get?
Getting further in my Master’s program than I have. I only have 6 of the required 36 hours. I thought I’d have a few more.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Guardiansof the Galaxy edges out Captain America: The Winter Solider.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Don’t ask on the age, but I went to Alice’s husband’s family Christmas event.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Maybe more money to be less in debt.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
What fashion sense? Jeans and a t-shirt normally work for me.

34. What kept you sane?
Photography, music and travel.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None, really.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Lots, but I will leave it at  The Interview.

37. Who did you miss?
My mother, as always.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Not so much new, but I finally met some Repeat Offenders in person.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014:
Only I can make myself happy.

It’s really from last year, but this is from “SEE You In A Little While” by Steven Curtis Chapman:

The song helped after Scooter’s passing and had my think of my love ones that left me.
