Do I have to work this week?
Posted on November 30th, 2014 @ 11:36 pm

It’s only for 3 days, and then I’m off again. I have plans set for my birthday weekend . Later in December, I am going to Augusta, GA, twice.  Once to visit a friend; another to see Steven Curtis Chapman again. SCC is my thing with my friend, Lindsey.   This will be the 4th time I will have seen him with her. She’s getting the tickets; I’m getting the hotel room.

My weekend was pretty laid back.  I had to work half a day Friday.  My choice.  I was able to get a few things done without stopping to help others.  After work, we went to see Mockingjay. I enjoyed it.  The whole Hunger Games books and movies have lessons to learn.   If I lived in Panem, I’d be dead.  I have a defiant streak in me. I think I would have stopped the movie at the point Boggs knocked out Peeta.

We also got the 9 foot tall Christmas tree up this weekend.  Nicki’s kittens, as well as Beth cats, have been enjoying it.  So far, 1 broken glass bulb, which was not where the kittens could get them. Some climbed the tree.

I got the Rainbow Bridge card from my vet.  It had me in tears.  In it was a paw print of Scooter’s. Many in the clinic wrote a note about what a sweet cat he was.  I’m missing him at the moment. Earlier, I just wanted to cuddle a cat.  I called 3 of them and none came.  He would have been with me as soon as I called once.

So, let’s see how this month of December goes for me.

“The law is reason, free from passion.”
Posted on November 25th, 2014 @ 8:07 pm

I had a post, that was not about Ferguson, but my computer died.  I had to reboot it, but after the reboot, I lost my passion for it.

However, this quote from Aristotle is one that has made an impact on me.  In theory, we have laws in order to not let our passions get away from us.  I will admit, at times, when I see things I feel are wrong, according to my beliefs, I will get passionate about making change.  Most of the time, the passion has bitten my ass and hurt me in the end.

A good time I learned this lesson was in 2nd grade; I wanted my reading group to be named My Little Ponies. The boys named us Transformers instead.  I wanted that name and cried that we didn’t get it.  A example of me learning that life’s not fair.

I will just say this for passion and law combining as one.  Last week, here in Savannah, a cute little girl, Kiaja Smalls, was shot dead at home. She was 2 years old. It’s an injustice that she won’t get do many things.

Family History Search

I have been working on my family tree as of late. I have hit a few brick walls.

My maternal grandfather’s family is hitting a brick wall. I e-mailed one of my mother’s cousins on that side, but short of a few people I know on that side, I am having trouble finding the others from there. I think I found the name of two of my mother’s cousins that didn’t know of yesterday.  If anyone know much about the Ukrainian community of Buffalo, NY, around the 1920s, that would help me.

Thank you!  A lot of my family’s history has been found this way.

My maternal grandmother’s line has been easier. My great-aunt did a lot of research on the family. The cousins on that side have been in touch with me. One cousin is encouraging me to join the DAR, if I’m eligible.

My eligibility would be based on my paternal grandfather’s side. My great-aunt on that side was in the DAR. I actually have 2 relatives listed in the database. One the great-aunt proved already, via her mother’s side. But, there’s another on her father’s side, too.

However, I have hit a dead end at one point. If only I could find more on the Adams family of Rutland Randolph, VT.  I have at least one of my dad’s cousin wanting to know more of that, too, from this side. At least there is a website out there that has a lot of info on my family name.

I need to do a bit more on my paternal grandmother’s side, too.  My mother had a friend she met online.  Sadly, the friend is deceased as well. But, there is a good chance this friend is a distant cousin of my father’s through his mother.  Before my mother died, they would joke about being cousins by marriage.  This side of the family is the family I am closest with.  It would be nice to know the friend really is my mother’s cousin.

Also, I am having some trouble on my paternal grandmother’s side. I really know nothing of her paternal side.  I’d also like to know more on that.

My sister has been using this info on a project for school.  I’ve been helping her there.  We both keep thinking we mutts will find something mind blowing.

Needing to be hugged

Scooter on the back of the couch
Scooter on the back of the couch by peachy92

I am sitting on my couch at the moment with Scooter. Sadly, he’s dying. Cancer. The vet said to take him home and just love on him. He won’t eat. He’s wasting away. Sure, we have been force feeding him, but it’s not working. It’s not that he doesn’t want to eat. He went nuts in the car yesterday after we got some Little Caesar’s to bring home.

I have been praying for a miracle, but I doubt I will see one.

At the moment, I just wish I had some arms to collapse into and cry. I just needed to be hugged. My mother would be the best person for this, but she’s gone. Sadly, the only other creature that brings my comfort in these times of needs will be leaving me, soon.

For the most part, I’ve accepted the single life, but now is the time I hate being alone. Right now, I just don’t want my cat to die.
