  • One letter of recommendation turned in.

So I’ll send a reminder to my other recommendation.

I’m excited and scared.

I applied for an online program, but I will be in Columbia, SC on Friday.  I was thinking of touring the University of South Carolina while I’m there.

If you want to send me a gift any time soon, Gamecock gear, please.

I have skinned my computer in the school colors.

I think I have shown my age by using the term skinned.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Posted on October 22nd, 2013 @ 10:58 pm

The Good:  Not having my A/C on.  This helps lowers my electric bill.

The Bad: It’s finally getting cold enough, that on a wet, rainy evening, like tonight,  I’m chilled. The dog is bundled up.

The Ugly: It’s getting darker earlier than I like.

Feeling like an idiot
Posted on October 20th, 2013 @ 11:02 pm

Years ago, my mother had a domain. After she died, I have been keeping it up. Some how, I have forgotten to renew it. And now I feel like an idiot. It was my way of keeping my mother alive. It was the only reason I was keeping my hosting services and keeping up this blog.

And now, it’s just one more remnant of my mother that is gone.

It was that doll site that got me into my photography hobby.  She wanted photos of her dolls.  She had them dressed. She just didn’t know how to use the camera.  I did.  So, I had to take photos of those dolls.  I didn’t want them to be boring.  I posed those dolls.  She loved the results.

As a result of getting a camera, I decided to place a photo gallery on this site using Gallery.  I didn’t have many subjects to photography at that time.

I no longer use Gallery, but Flickr.  And I have taken A LOT of photos.

Last night, I went to the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival.  The headliners this year was Collective Soul:

My mother didn’t know the band, but she knew the music, especially “December.”  I took one of the inferior cameras I have.  I was quite surprised at how the photos came out, considering how far I was from the stage. I also picked up a T-shirt from the show.

And since I’m blogging, I’ll do Unconscious Mutterings:

  1. dead :: ringer
  2. bangs :: A haircut I had once.
  3. future :: shades
  4. holistic :: medicine
  5. circumstance :: happenstance
  6. past :: failures
  7. fan :: blade
  8. happened :: today
  9. room :: with a view
  10. awful :: lyrics

“Just keep me where the light is”

The IMAX screen in Savannah.
The IMAX screen in Savannah. by peachy92

Today, my father and I were running errands. We were sharing a vehicle today. He wanted to see how much Pooler has grown on Pooler Parkway. We drove by the IMAX theater and saw that Gravity, the Sandra Bullock/George Clooney film as just about to start. We raced into the theater to catch the showing.

I have never been a fan of 3D projection.  And yet, for this movie, the 3D did not make me sick.  I enjoyed the visuals. I felt as if I were in space.

Sure, some of the things in that movie would not be possible, but you had to suspend reality to enjoy the film.

I also enjoyed the fact that I could recognize certain parts of the world.  When they were over Egypt during the night, my dad whispers to me about a single dot in the middle Sinai Desert. He tells me that the base he worked at back in 1992-1993.

There was once scene with a ham radio operator making contact with Sandra’s character.  It made me wish I had a ham radio operator’s license.  It’s one of those things I have wanted for years, but afraid I won’t be able to do.

I recommend this film, just for the visuals alone.
