“Ain’t nothin’ but a heartache”

“‘Cause I want it that way.”

I went and saw Star Trek Beyond today. I went with my father. He wanted to see it. I wanted a reason to get out of the house. He’s pretty much my sci-fi movie buddy.

Prior to the start of the movie, we saw this Ivan and Evie Chipotle ad.  I was scared when my dad started singing the song in the ad, “I Want It That Way.” I guess all that Backstreet Boys Nicki sang over the years and listened to all these years has been ingrained into his brain.

However, this ad stood out to us. It made a bigger impact on him. As in, he never wants to see the ad again because it hit him like Up did. It’s hard for him to be a widower. Maybe I have it better off as a spinster.

I have got to stop calling myself a spinster. I just haven’t met the person yet.

As for the movie, I thought it was the best of the 3.  It seemed to be the most original story line, but I thought it favored the Voyager series the most. Jaylah reminded me of Seven of Nine. The Voyager episode “Friendship One” was in the back of my mind as I watched it. Also on the back of my mind was the U.S.S. Equinox plot.  I was just at a lost of the story line for it, other than it was a Voyager episode. There are a few other odes to Voyager in it, too.

As for my current bout of depression, I hope it will subside at the end of the week when I get my other car back.  I hate sharing cars.  You’d think buying a second car would help me out of this rut, but with the car accident Jessica had this month, I’ve been back to sharing a car.  Rumor has it that my brother’s car will be repaired by the end of the week.  I also got a few days off next month.  I’ll do something on those days, even if it’s just going to Atlanta to see the Braves.  I really need the time off.

I’m old.

I just saw this ad a few days ago. Yes I made me feel old. I’m not that old, really. I still feel like a kid listening to that song when it was new in the States.

I’m Not Too Football Smart…

…but I think that the Broncos lost that game as soon as it started. I think they were so fluster at that safety, they couldn’t get it out of their minds.

Commercials were mostly a bust, too. Radio Shack, the Muppets, and the Stud were funny. Nearly everything else bored me.

The Cat Driving
Posted on June 5th, 2011 @ 8:34 pm

I lose it at the cat driving. Mainly because it reminds me so much of Lucky:

Packed Lucky

Lucky was sweet cat. She was my brother’s cat. His friend just down the street had a cat that had 2 kittens. Matthew saw the kittens, and fell in love with the black and white one. My mother heard how much he loved the kitten, so she went to see the kitten. My mother fell in love the kitten and the kitten’s Siamese looking sister.  My mother brought both kittens home.  Lucky was named such because my mother felt my brother was lucky to have her.  Misty got her name because she looked like a ball of mist.

We had the 2 of them for 11 years.  Lucky died in the summer of 2005.  She died of unknown heart condition that she may have contracted as a kitten.  They were never certain.  Misty died of cancer on Christmas Eve, 2005.  It was several days after my mother died.  We believe she died of broken heart as a result of my mother’s death.

I miss hugging them from time to time.

Get On Your Snuggie
Posted on November 10th, 2009 @ 7:08 pm

I broke down and bought a Snuggie today.

My cubicle has been moved at work. As a result, I am sitting straight under an A/C vent. Being that I work with computers, we need the A/C. So guess what? I’m getting cold.

This morning, I was freezing. I found it hard to get some work done. So, for lunch, I went a got a Snuggie at the nearby Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I ended up getting the Breast Cancer Pink Snuggie.

What prompted me to get a Snuggie? The sleeves part. I mainly got it to cover my upper chest area. My jacket yesterday wasn’t cutting it. Also, I don’t like my arms feeling constricted.

I fell for the Snuggie gimmick!

Actually, I’m not upset at myself for getting a Snuggie. I see it as a way to combat a problem preventing me from being productive. Now, I can be warm and still do my work.

When I go back to work, one of my co-workers saw I got the Snuggie. She wanted to see what it looked like and watched as I opened the box. A few other people noticed I had a Snuggie, too.

So what do I think of it? Well, the fleece is keeping my upper chest area warm. That’s the main function and it’s doing it well. I don’t really need it at full length. The full length has been getting caught in my chair wheels. To stop that, I have had to bunch the Snuggie up on my lap. Also, I don’t like the feeling of it falling off my shoulders. That’s the problem with any front loading piece of clothing. I wish there was a latch in the back to keep it stable. Notice how you never see the backs of anyone in a Snuggie ad?  Also, the fleece seems to be a lower quality fleece.

Hey, as long as it does it’s job in keeping me warm and free to do my work, I will keep it.  I just need it to function.
